Meet Dr. Amanda Larson
Physician. Surgeon. Patient. Founder.
Dr. Amanda Turbeville Larson is the physician and founder behind Seewee Medspa in Awendaw, South Carolina.
Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and a Certified Wound Specialist Physician through the American Board of Wound Management, Dr. Amanda has been practicing medicine since 2013.
Her experience in surgery taught her precision. Years of wound care gave her a deep understanding of skin, collagen, tissue repair, inflammation, and healing.
Her path into aesthetic medicine began somewhere much more personal.
It began as a patient.
Today, Dr. Amanda brings those perspectives together at Seewee Medspa, where skin health, aesthetics, and wellness are approached with medical knowledge, honest education, and a clear goal:
To help you look healthy, feel confident, and still look completely like yourself.

Her Journey Into Aesthetics Started on the Other Side of the Chair
In her mid-thirties, Dr. Amanda had an experience many women will recognize. She looked in the mirror one morning and thought: I just look… dull.
She wasn’t focused on a particular wrinkle or trying to look dramatically different. Her skin simply didn’t reflect how healthy and vibrant she felt inside.
At the time, her skincare routine was uncomplicated: bar soap, a drugstore moisturizer, and the assumption that healthy skin would mostly take care of itself, so she scheduled a consultation at a local medical spa.
That appointment changed so much more than her skincare routine. With professional guidance, medical-grade skincare, regular facials, and chemical peels, her skin gradually became brighter and healthier.
Along with those changes came something she hadn’t expected: greater confidence.
She didn’t feel like a different person.
She felt more like herself.

From Patient to Physician in Aesthetics
For Amanda, the experience sparked curiosity.
She was already a physician, so seeing her own skin change led to deeper questions about why certain treatments were working. What was happening beneath the surface? How did collagen change over time, and what role did hormones, inflammation, nutrition, sun exposure, and overall health play?
Eventually, Amanda had the opportunity to become Medical Director of the same medical spa where her own journey had begun. She pursued training in aesthetic medicine, cosmetic injectables, and advanced skincare while continuing her work as a physician.
Over time, she incorporated neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and collagen-stimulating treatments into her own healthy-aging journey as well.
The more she learned, the more interested she became in the biology behind what patients were seeing.
Why does skin change in the first place—and how can we support it as it ages?
That question helped shape Seewee Medspa.

A Medical Career Built on Understanding How the Body Heals
Dr. Amanda’s approach to aesthetics is inseparable from her medical background.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.
She later returned to the Medical University of South Carolina, earning her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2008.
Her medical career continued into general surgery, where she became Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. She also became a Certified Wound Specialist Physician through the American Board of Wound Management.
Dr. Amanda later earned a Master of Health Administration from LSU Shreveport, adding another perspective to years spent caring for patients and leading within healthcare.
She has practiced as a physician since 2013 and that background matters for our patients at Seewee. it means she has spent years evaluating patients, making clinical decisions, working with tissue, managing healing, and seeing firsthand how many factors influence the way the body recovers.
What Surgery and Wound Care Taught Dr. Amanda About Skin
Skin is living tissue.
Every day, the body is repairing, remodeling, producing collagen, forming blood vessels, responding to inflammation, and adapting to changes inside and outside the body.
Working in wound care gave Dr. Amanda a close view of those processes. Given the right environment, the body has an extraordinary ability to repair itself.
That understanding influences the way she thinks about aesthetic medicine.
When evaluating your skin, she may consider it’s health, collagen levels, sun damage, hormones and more.
To Dr. Amanda, good aesthetic care begins with understanding the biology behind what you see.
“Healthy Skin Is Beautiful Skin.”
That belief sits at the center of Dr. Amanda’s philosophy, that aesthetic medicine can support healthy aging without trying to erase every visible sign of time.
The goal is to preserve healthy tissue, support collagen, address changes thoughtfully, and help patients continue to look rested, vibrant, and recognizable as themselves.
There is no treatment everyone needs at a certain age. Your treatment will be crafted to fit your current needs.
A Physician’s Approach to Natural-Looking Results
One of the most common concerns patients bring to an aesthetic consultation is that they do not want to look overdone, something Dr. Amanda understands, having been an aesthetic patient herself.
Her goal is to help you look healthy, rested, balanced, and like yourself, preserving natural expression.
Dr. Amanda considers skin quality, facial movement, collagen changes, sun exposure, anatomy, health history, lifestyle, and what matters most to you before recommending a plan.
The objective is the right treatment, for the right reason, at the right time.
Care Begins With Listening
You may not know whether Botox, a laser, a peel, skincare, hormones, or something entirely different makes sense… you may not even know how to describe what’s changed for you.
That’s okay – you don’t need to arrive with the answers. Dr. Amanda believes a good consultation starts much more simply: she can help you understand what may be happening, what your options are, what each option can realistically accomplish, and which approaches may not be appropriate for you.

Why Dr. Amanda Built Seewee Medspa
Amanda wanted to create the kind of practice she would want to visit herself. A place where science, aesthetics, skin health, and wellness could work together.
Her own experience as a patient still shapes the way she wants people to feel when they walk through the door: heard, comfortable, informed, and confident in whatever they choose to do next.

Coming Home to the Lowcountry
For Dr. Amanda, building Seewee in Awendaw is personal.
She grew up here in the Lowcountry and began her education at the University of South Carolina before completing both nursing school and medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina.
That’s why Seewee Medspa is a place where someone from Awendaw, Mount Pleasant, East Cooper, or the surrounding Charleston-area communities can walk through the door, ask an honest question, and expect an honest answer.
